# Create a campaign

Choose an audience, add email or push content and prepare a campaign for review.

Use a campaign to send an announcement, newsletter or offer to one audience, now or at a scheduled time. You can use email, push or both. For follow-ups triggered by customer behaviour, build a [journey](/docs/guides/journeys/how-journeys-work).

## Start a campaign

Go to **Campaigns** and choose **New campaign**. The editor walks you through steps shown across the top: **Details**, **Audience**, one step for each channel you choose (**Email** and **Push notification**), and **Review and send**. You can visit the steps in any order.

Prefer a head start? Choose **Draft with Kiro AI**, describe the campaign, and Kiro AI drafts it for you to review and edit.

You can choose **Save draft** at any time, even if only the name is filled in. A draft can't be sent or scheduled until every step is complete.

## Details

1. Enter a **Campaign name**, such as *Spring menu launch*. Only your team sees it.
2. Choose the channels: **Email**, **Push**, or both.
3. For email, fill in:
   - **Subject**
   - **Preview text**: the line shown after the subject in most inboxes, up to 255 characters
   - **From name** and **From address**: the address must be on a verified sending domain, for example `hello@mail.juniperkitchen.com`. See [Set up a sending domain](/docs/guides/getting-started/set-up-a-sending-domain).
   - **Reply-to address** (optional)
4. Choose a **Topic** if this campaign belongs to one, such as *Offers*. Without a topic, the campaign goes to everyone with marketing consent, and unsubscribing stops all marketing email. See [Consent and unsubscribes](/docs/guides/contacts/consent-and-unsubscribes).
5. Choose whether to **Apply the workspace's message limits**, so nobody gets more marketing than your **Sending rules** allow.

New campaigns start with the default sender set in **Settings › Sending rules**.

## Audience

Choose who receives it:

- **Saved group or segment**: pick an existing [group](/docs/guides/contacts/groups) or [segment](/docs/guides/contacts/segments).
- **Writing rules**: describe who should get it, using the same conditions as segments. Turn on **Keep these rules as a segment** to save them for reuse.

You'll see how many contacts match right now. Who actually receives the campaign is decided when it sends: consent, topics and suppression are checked again at that moment.

## Email

Choose **Choose template** to start from a saved template, or **Design from scratch** to build the email in the designer. Choose **Open designer** or **Edit design** to make changes. The campaign keeps its own copy, so editing it never changes the template. See [Design an email](/docs/guides/email-designer/design-an-email).

Under **Link tags**, choose whether to add UTM tags to links so your analytics can tell which campaign brought each visit. You can use the workspace setting, tag the links, or leave them untagged. The unsubscribe link is never tagged.

## Push notification

1. Choose the push app (project) to send through.
2. Write the **Title** and **Message**. You can personalise them, but anything you add shows on the lock screen.
3. Optionally, add a **When tapped, open** link, an **Image**, buttons and other options.

A preview shows how the notification will look. See [Set up push](/docs/guides/getting-started/set-up-push).

## Review and send

The **Checklist** shows every part that still needs work, with a link to fix it. When everything is ready, it says *Ready to send. Nothing is sent until you send or schedule.*

From here you can:

- choose **Send test** to check the email first. See [Test and preview a campaign](/docs/guides/campaigns/test-and-preview).
- choose **Save and send…** or **Save and schedule…**. You'll see who it reaches and confirm before anything goes out. See [Schedule and send a campaign](/docs/guides/campaigns/schedule-and-send).

> **Note:** A campaign with both email and push only sends when both channels are ready. It never goes out on one channel alone.

## Manage campaigns

The **Campaigns** list can be filtered by status: **Draft**, **Scheduled**, **Sending**, **Sent**, **Cancelled** and **Archived**. From a campaign's menu you can **Duplicate as draft**, archive it, or delete a draft that has never sent.
