Guide

Give your messages a better chance of reaching customers.

Understand domain authentication, sending health and customer permission. Learn what delivery and engagement metrics tell you, and how email and push differ.

Why you verify a sending domain

Gmail, Outlook and other providers use authentication to check that email is authorised by the domain in the “from” address, such as mail.yourshop.com. You prove it by adding a few records to your domain’s DNS, usually at your registrar, such as GoDaddy, Namecheap or Cloudflare.

Until those records exist, Kirora won’t send from that domain, because verification is required to authenticate your sends. You only do it once per domain.

Why bounces and complaints pause sending

Mailbox providers watch two signals closely: bounces (emails sent to addresses that don’t exist) and complaints (people pressing “Report spam”). Too many of either and your emails start going to spam, for everyone.

  • Kirora automatically suppresses hard-bounced addresses and addresses reported through provider complaint feedback, preventing further sends to them.
  • Your reports show a health band: healthy, watch at a 2% bounce rate, or critical, where marketing email pauses until an admin resumes it.
  • New workspaces start with a modest daily limit that grows as your list proves clean.

The best protection is a list of people who asked to hear from you. Bought or scraped lists are the fastest way to ruin a domain’s reputation.

Marketing versus transactional

  • Marketing is promotional: newsletters, offers, announcements. It needs consent.
  • Transactional is something the person asked for or needs: a receipt, a password reset, a one-time code. It goes out even without marketing consent, and even while marketing is paused, but it must not contain promotions.

Keeping the two apart protects both: a marketing health pause does not automatically stop transactional sending. Transactional messages still follow their own sending, account and usage checks.

What “delivered” and “opened” really mean

  • Sent means accepted for delivery. Nothing more.
  • Delivered means the recipient’s mail server accepted it, not that it reached the inbox rather than spam.
  • Opened is counted when an invisible image in the email loads. Many apps block images, and Apple Mail loads them automatically, so opens are an estimate.
  • Clicked records a tracked link visit. Automated link scanners can also visit links, so a click is a signal of engagement rather than proof that a person acted.

That’s why Kirora reports conversions and revenue as well. They show recorded customer actions and attributed value alongside delivery and engagement.

How push is different

Push goes to an app or browser the person installed and allowed notifications for. Apple (APNs) and Google (Firebase) carry the message, using keys your workspace uploads.

Push consent is separate from email consent, and Kirora only learns that a push was opened if your app reports it.
