Send your first campaign

Set up a domain, add subscribers, design a message and review your first email campaign.

Follow this walkthrough to prepare and send your first email campaign. The example is a spring menu announcement from Juniper Kitchen, a fictional business, to its newsletter subscribers. Each step links to a detailed guide.

Before you start

You’ll need:

1 Verify your sending domain

Open Settings › Email sending, add mail.juniperkitchen.com and publish the DNS records shown, including the DMARC record that marketing email needs. Verification usually takes minutes once the records are live, and you can carry on with the steps below meanwhile.

Read more: Set up a sending domain.

2 Add your postal address

Open Settings › General and fill in Postal address. Every marketing email shows it in the footer, and campaigns can’t send without it.

3 Bring in your contacts

Go to Contacts, choose Add contacts, then Import a CSV. Map your columns, say how people agreed to hear from you, and add everyone to a new group called Newsletter.

Only import people who agreed to receive your email. Bought or scraped lists break our Terms.

Read more: Import contacts and Groups.

4 Create the campaign

Go to Campaigns and choose New campaign.

  1. Details: name it Spring menu launch, keep Email as the channel, and fill in the sender, subject and preview text.
  2. Audience: choose the Newsletter group.
  3. Email: start from a template or design the email from scratch.
  4. Review and send: check the checklist.

5 Test it

Choose Send test to send the email to yourself or your team, personalised as one of your contacts. Check the links, images and personalisation on your phone as well as your computer.

6 Send or schedule

From Review and send, choose Save and send… or Save and schedule…. Before you confirm, Kirora shows how many people the email will reach and why anyone is left out, for example because they haven’t given consent or are suppressed. Nothing goes out until you confirm.

Read more: Schedule and send a campaign.

7 Read the results

Open the campaign to watch delivery, opens and clicks arrive. Add a conversion goal, such as an Order Completed event, to see the orders and revenue the campaign brought in.

Prefer to start with a draft?

On the Campaigns page, choose Draft with Kiro AI and describe the campaign. Kiro AI drafts the email and opens it in the editor for you to review. Nothing sends until you say so.
